This World Toilet Day, Ecosan Services Foundation is organizing the Urgent Run, a run to spread awareness regarding water conservation and sanitation issues.

The concept of a toilet is still fairly new for the rural parts of India and even in the urban areas, there still exists a lack of awareness regarding proper hygiene and sanitation techniques. The scarcity of water further adds to the problems at hand and makes water and sanitation issues a topic of national concern.

The participants of the Urgent Run will help to spread awareness regarding the need for water conservation and improvement of the situation of sanitation in India. We all need to play a role in preserving water in the country, be it in the form of lifestyle changes or in the form of rainwater harvesting. We must also follow the right practices to maintain hygiene in both the public toilets as well as the toilets in our homes.

Proper measures for sanitation will not only make the public toilets of India cleaner and more hygienic for use but will also prevent the clogging of drains and water logging in the areas surrounding public toilets.

If you believe that public sanitation and water preservation are causes that need to be promoted in the society then do join the run and shed a little sweat for this movement.
