Mission Green Mumbai is an initiative led by a group of organisations, such as the Gaia Conservation Foundation, Let’s GREEN, Mission Green Mumbai, and SayTrees, to encourage the citizens to plant native and fruit trees in the different neighborhoods of Mumbai.

Preserving the indigenous species of flora is crucial for the sustainable growth of the local ecosystems and Mission Green Mumbai is playing a significant role in supporting this cause. Till date, the members of this movement have planted more than 24000 trees in Mumbai that have been adopted by the citizens. They need the support of 10 million citizens to make Mumbai a green zone.

The mission emphasizes that simply planting saplings will not help the planet, these saplings also need to be nurtured and protected until they transform into trees. Therefore, the mission encourages Mumbaikars to adopt the trees and take up the responsibility of taking care of them in the early stages of growth.

The team provides saplings to all the interested citizens, thereby simplifying the task of planting a tree. They encourage the locals to plant a sapling in their society compounds, playgrounds, office compounds, and other open areas. They encourage individuals as well as organisations to join the movement to add more vegetation to the city.

Trees play an essential role in controlling pollution, preventing global warming and soil erosion, and controlling the levels of precipitation. So if you want Mumbai to be protected from severe climate changes and pollution in the years to come then plant a sapling today to give a better future to the city.
