How do you feel when you meet an orphan or a needy child begging for help from strangers on the streets? Kindness and compassion fills your heart I can imagine. Have you contributed in any way to help these underprivileged meet their everyday needs and fulfill their God-given gifts and talents? Other than giving money, there are a number of activities you can participate in to make their life happier and easier.
You do not have to belong to volunteer programs to reach out to the needy. You can reach out by participating directly like to a local church, temple or schools where the underprivileged and orphans spend their time. For instance, you can help clean their clothes, cook or clean the orphanages.
Time is money; the most valuable and precious thing you can give to a needy person. When a street kid approaches you, listen to them, learn more about them, their names and what they like and how you can help them.
What are you good at? Artistic drawings, dancing, playing football, cooking or playing chess; whatever you are good at, create time and impact your knowledge to the less privileged. Teach them the valuable skills in life and most importantly how to pray and talk to their creator concerning their needs.
When you are spending time with the orphans and street kids, learn some simple dances, words and maybe poems from them. Try and find out what they are good at, nurture their talents, encourage and motivate them to become better than they are.
How about you take a picture of yourself with them? Create a video and show them how good they are at what they do. Share happiness by being a part of them; let them feel your impact in their life.
Many orphans and the less privileged sleep on the streets. Is it possible to work with them and build a simple shelter? Donate your sweat and work hand in hand with them. Simple and little gestures matter, they go a long way.
Do you have an extra pair of shoes, jeans, books, pens, blankets, or extra food in the fridge or store? Why have more than you need? Just like we are taught, sharing is caring. You do not have to buy new things; what you have is more than enough.
Are you wondering how you will benefit by helping the poor, orphans and underprivileged? Remember it’s not a waste of time; you are building yourself both socially and personally by investing in another person. By helping you are;
Every day, always strive to create an impact in someone’s life and leave them better than you found them. Always remember that by spending time with orphans and underprivileged, you are not wasting time. You are impacting their life positively and changing them for better.
